MoD | Diagramming
What is a diagram? How can information be displayed and distilled down to the basics to convey a complex idea, simply? Whether a call back to Design Studio in school or design proposals for real world projects, from purely conceptual graphics to a break-down of a wall section or detail, a diagram is a designer’s tool to convey a concept or idea about an overall design.
AIA Kansas City's Young Architects Forum (YAF) has created Monsters of Design (MoD) to showcase and celebrate design graphics and visual communication that is integral to the work we do everyday as designers. These diagrams may be as simple or complex as desired, and may be as basic as a cleaned-up napkin sketch to a fully fleshed out design.
Enter MoD as an individual or as part of a team, and showcase your best example of diagramming.
To be considered, this registration form must be submitted by Tuesday, November 24th.
R E Q U I R E M E N T S
*All entries must be submitted on a single 10” x 10” digital board, submitted in PDF format (File size limit = 10MB). Additional data, including diagram or project title, and brief description will also be required at time of submission.
*The deadline to submit is November 24th by 6:00pm. Once this registration form has been processed, you will be given information about where to email your submission.
*Entry is open to individual participants, which may represent a team or firm. There is no limit to individual submissions.
*Only one diagram per submission. The Diagram subject/title must be prominently displayed on the board.
*Entries may include real-world examples inspired by career work, or new ideas created specifically for MoD.
*Winners and prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place will be selected by a panel of judges, and presented at the AIA Kansas City Holiday Party
*Submissions will be judged on graphic clarity, how well the content is conveyed, and aesthetic value
*All entries received by the deadline will be featured in Building Blocks emails, AIA social media channels, and on the Young Architects Forum (YAF) page on the AIA Kansas City website.
