About Suitable Technologies HQ:
California-based Suitable Technologies recognized a growing market in Kansas City, and desired to establish a local presence. Working with Sunflower Development Group, Suitable found a Kansas City home on the top floor of One Kansas City Place; the highest occupiable floor between Chicago and Dallas. With expansive perimeter glazing, the space offers unparalleled views of Kansas City.
Unoccupied for over 15 years, the space required a total overhaul of MEPF systems and equipment to achieve the open to structure, loft-like feel desired by the client. New focal cloud elements, suspended light fixtures, and minimal dropped ceilings are used to maximize floor to ceiling height.
The design embraces the raw, industrial aesthetic desired by the client to culminate in a series of rooms that allow remote clients 24/7 digital access to the space for the purpose of test piloting mobile robots. Each demo room is themed on a particular environment: home, office and play; highlighted by accent colors and more extensive finishes. The remaining interior palette is neutral, with polished concrete floors, minimal interior partitions and glass.
Originally slated as a phased project, the client accelerated the project schedule to tackle the entire scope at one time. Timing became a critical factor in the design and execution of the project. Construction was complicated by construction materials being limited to delivery via freight elevator to the 42nd floor of the high-rise multi-tenant building.
