ABOUT ABOUT

WHAT IS THE PERCOLATE SERIES?

Percolate is a series of sessions focused on power skills. This series has been developed and is facilitated by Steven Patterson and Zoë Johannsen, the Learning and Development team at Populous.

These sessions are intended for architect and design professionals with 3 -5 years of experience as well as anyone else interested in the series’ topics. These sessions are guaranteed to be highly engaging and leave you with critical knowledge related to how we can work collaboratively to drive our purpose, achieve the results that inspire us, and move ourselves, our firms, and our industry forward.

HOW IT WORKS
In each session, Steven and Zoë will share thought-provoking content and weave in opportunities for discussion, questions, and deliberate practice. Each session includes a 30-minute Q&A and networking opportunity.

SERIES GOALS

  • foster engagement
  • increase self-awareness
  • inspire through rich dialogue and varying perspectives
  • illustrate alignment to core values

SESSION ONE | The Basics of High-Performing Teams

When: Tuesday, April 2nd – 4:00p – 5:30p

In the initial session of this three-part series, we break down our foundational topic: high-performing teams. We start here because the behaviors, skills, and processes used by high-performing teams and organizations drive engagement, healthy dynamics, and positive results for not only teams, but individuals.

We’ll guide you through this session and engage in discussion about:

  • the Anatomy of Engagement,
  • how performance and satisfaction are linked,
  • the five elements necessary to ensure teams remain psychologically safe and high performing.

SESSION TWO | Rethinking Conflict Resolution & Utilizing Heat in Systems

When: Tuesday, May 7th – 4:00p – 5:30p

Session two focuses on conflict resolution and utilizing Heat as a tool. We will redefine conflict, explore its benefits, and learn how to manage our own stories that feed unproductive conflict.

We’ll guide you through this session and engage in discussion about:

  • the differences between constructive and destructive conflict,
  • using conflict as a tool,
  • recognizing what heat is, and applying it to stay productive, engaged, and purposeful in your work.

SESSION THREE | The Importance of Intention-Setting and Mindful Action at Work

When: Tuesday, June 11th – 4:00p – 5:30p

In an increasingly complex and fast-paced world, we can become detached from our innate ability to be fully present in the current moment. At work, it's even more challenging. Session three focuses on intention-setting and working mindfully.

We’ll guide you through this session and engage in discussion about:

  • mindlessness and mindfulness in our cultural context,
  • if you are being mindful or mindless in your daily work,
  • setting an intention to help you practice mindfulness.
