ABOUT ABOUT

The AIA Kansas City Equity in Architecture Committee will be hosting a 9-part conversation series structured around the AIA Guides for Equitable Practice.  Each session will be facilitated by a group of local chapter volunteers, and will give participants the chance to learn about best practices and tools to bring about meaningful change to our practices and our communities in the interest of diversity and equity.

Our second session in this series will be held on February 16 at 4 p.m. and will cover the topic Workplace Culture.   Workplace culture affects every aspect of the work we do, and everyone is responsible for it. Questioning why things are “just the way we do things in our firm” or “just the way we do things in architecture” brings change to ways of thinking and doing, and, ultimately, to systems that advantage some individuals and groups while disadvantaging others.  This session will be lead by Tabitha Darko, Tiffin Thompson and Jill Swanberg of HOK.
