We are pleased to welcome Michelle Cohn, AIA, NCARB, LEED AP, PMP, Assistant Vice President of Examination at NCARB to Kansas City! Michelle will present on a range of licensure topics relevant to students, aspiring architects, supervisors, architects, and people in the architecture profession. The presentation will review the steps necessary to achieve licensure to become an architect and other programs to get the most out of your career in architecture.

Topics will include:

  • Background of NCARB
  • The entities involved in the licensure process
  • How to establish an NCARB Record
  • How to progress successfully through the Architectural Experience Program® (AXP™)
  • What to expect with the Architect Registration Examination® (ARE®)
  • Recent changes to NCARB programs
  • Value of the NCARB Certificate

Michelle will remain on-site after the presentation to help address specific questions on an individual basis.

This presentation is open to licensure candidates and their supervisors.

ABOUT THE PRESENTER:

Michelle Cohn joined NCARB in 2014 and serves as the Assistant Vice President of Examination.  She has experience on all aspects of exam development and operations, including work with the volunteers on NCARB’s exam-related committees and support for candidates currently testing.  Michelle also participates in Council outreach efforts to universities and the profession, promoting the value of licensure to candidates throughout the licensure process.

Prior to joining NCARB, Michelle has over a decade of architectural experience.  Her work as a designer, project architect, and project manager included institutional, mixed-use, residential, and affordable housing projects across all phases of design and construction.  Originally from the DC area, Michelle earned a Master of Architecture degree from Tulane University.  She’s a licensed architect in Washington, DC, holds the NCARB Certificate, and is certified as a Project Management Professional.
