ABOUT ABOUT

This program is being offered as a hybrid program.  You may attend either in person or on Zoom.

Join Woodworks for this presentation that will discuss the carbon footprint of wood products and buildings.  Opportunities for the built environment to help address carbon-related issues are at the forefront of discussions within the building design and construction community. The spotlight once held by operational energy efficiency has shifted to material choice and embodied carbon—and, in particular, which building products should be specified to achieve a more sustainable structure. This course takes a brief look at the use of wood in construction and highlights some of the positive environmental benefits it can bring to a project.  Basic carbon-related terminology will be reviewed along with information on wood’s carbon sequestration. Case studies illustrating the benefits of wood from a sustainability perspective will be presented along with a short survey of carbon policy across the U.S.

This program is worth 1 HSW.  Lunch will be provided for this who attend in person.  For those who attend on Zoom, you must attend the full session in order to get AIA credit.  If you leave the Zoom meeting early, no credit will be reported.
